India pace attack just got reshuffled ahead of a crucial white ball tour & every cricket fan needs to know why. In a surprise but strategic move Prasidh Krishna replaces Siraj in the T20I squads for both the Ireland & England series. This sets the stage for a fresh bowling combination under Shreyas Iyer captaincy.
Why Prasidh Krishna Replaces Siraj?
The BCCI confirmed on June 9 that Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from the T20I squads for both Ireland & England. It also confirmed that Prasidh Krishna has been named as his replacement for both upcoming tours.
The official BCCI statement made it clear that the decision was taken following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team & the Team Management. It added that Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. This is a step taken as a precaution to ensure enough recovery ahead of a long international season.
This move signals India careful planning as the team looks to protect its key fast bowling assets over a packed schedule.
Why Was Siraj Rested?
The heavy workload Siraj carried over the past several months played a major role in this call. It is worth noting that Siraj featured in each of the 17 matches for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 & took 19 wickets. They also included him as part of the one off Test against Afghanistan which finished inside three days.
The team management decided not to risk any injury by overloading one of their top seamers. This move is purely a precaution & Siraj is expected to return to full fitness well before the next major assignment.
Who Is Prasidh Krishna?
The Karnataka born right arm fast medium bowler Prasidh Krishna stands at 6 feet 3 inches & is known for generating sharp bounce even on the most flat tracks. They have seen him perform well in both domestic & international cricket & he brings pace & discipline to the attack.
It is clear that Prasidh has been in great form recently which makes him a natural fit for this replacement role. The height he brings along with his ability to extract bounce on English pitches & his experience in white ball cricket make him a very useful asset for the tour.
India Updated Squad for Ireland & England T20Is
The updated squad includes Shreyas Iyer as captain along with Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson as wicketkeeper, Ishan Kishan as wicketkeeper, Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma as vice captain, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi & Prasidh Krishna.

India T20I Schedule – Ireland & England
The team will play two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 & June 28. It will then move on to a five match T20I series in England starting July 1.
- Ireland T20I 1 – June 26, Belfast.
- Ireland T20I 2 – June 28, Belfast.
- England T20I Series – July 1 to July 11 (5 matches).
The pace unit for the T20Is will now be led by Arshdeep Singh with Harshit Rana & Prasidh Krishna offering strong support. It is worth pointing out that Prasidh Krishna made his T20I debut against Ireland back in August 2023 & he brings useful experience against the same opposition India will face first. The ability to hit the deck hard & extract bounce will be very useful on Irish & English surfaces where conditions often help seam movement.
The decision to have Prasidh Krishna replace Siraj is a smart & long term move by the Indian team management. The team has a packed international season lined up & protecting Siraj fitness while trusting Prasidh Krishna with a key role makes complete cricketing sense. They will all now have their eyes on Prasidh Krishna as he gets a great opportunity to confirm his place in India T20I setup ahead of bigger assignments.
